Electronic Data Interchange
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is a standard format for exchanging business data. The standard is ANSI X12 and it was developed by the Data Interchange Standards Association. ANSI X12 is either closely coordinated with or is being merged with an international standard, EDIFACT. EDI messages can be encrypted.
SWI has developed many EDI solutions for customers in the Food & Beverage, Metals, Chemicals and Financial industries . Trading partners have both unique requirements and standard requirements. Some use third party trading services, some prefer direct methods. Some follow the ANSI X12 standards for document trading, and others use proprietary formats. Recently, customers are moving towards using Extensible Markup Language (XML) to facilitate the exchange of documents. Regardless of the technology involved, SWI can help you address your EDI needs.
